Davidoff has gone into its archives and resurrected a limited-edition perfecto first released in 2002. Made with only Dominican tobacco, the Special 53 Capa Dominicana will be available once again on July 1 and showcases an aged wrapper grown in the Yamasá region of the Dominican Republic.
According to Davidoff, the wrapper has been aged for 10 years, the San Vicente binder for eight years and the filler—a mélange of San Vicente, Piloto Cubano and Olor—for up to six-and-a-half years.
Measuring 6 1/8 inches long by 53 ring gauge, these shapely, double-tapered perfectos retail for approx. 4800 INR a piece and come packaged in 10-count boxes.
Only 4,500 boxes will be going to the United States.
The name “Special 53” refers to the unorthodox ring gauge Davidoff says was created just for this blend in order to best accentuate the Dominican wrapper.
The perfectos were made in the Dominican Republic at the Cigars Davidoff factory.
